Did Cliffy Pull a Hideo? Spoilers

I know that things like this have been around in gaming for quite sometime, or maybe hideo is the first that had done it i don't know, but at the end of gears of war 2 Cliffy B. Pulls a Hideo Kojima, with the radio transmission from adam fenix. I mean correct me IF im wrong buit didnt Hideo do that in Metal Gear Solid 1,2 and 3 before Gears ever came out? Here I was begining to think Cliffy was original. t  Did Cliffy Pull a Hideo? Spoilers
First, put SPOILER ALERT b4 posting. That being said, Gears 2 is no where near the epic story of MGS.  That also being said, I think Gears 2 has amazing gameplay, best graphics of 08, and best multiplayer of 08. Did Cliffy Pull a Hideo? Spoilers
Cliify says he loves metal gear game. ANd hideo says he loves gears and plays gears at work. Perfect couple. Just like mixing some elemnts of Gears and Metal Gear.

Eh yeah. They just took the idea, because they thought it was pretty cool. Cliff B seemed to like Metal Gear Solid 4, so took a bit of inspiration from it. The end result was a poor attempt to replicate the last minute twist style of Metal Gear Solid that really suprises the player, and get's them hyped for the sequel. Instead with GeoW it was just some guy saying, ''OMG WHY?!''. Gears dosn't have a deep enough plot to intrest us with silly non sensical plot twists that MGS is so famous for. With MGS it hints at something more, it suprises us, it gives away a piece of information and creates a whole new mystery at the same time. In GeoW 2 it just created another mystery, without revealing much else. Basically nice try, but no cigar Epic.
This is not new. Games and movies have done this for a while. That is why it is always good to watch something through the very end.

It was not just some guy. It was Marcus's father, and some of us appreciated the story in Gears 2. It is no 1984 or Brave New World, but it was a fun and functional story.

Does it matter? It's just one thing at the end of the credits.

Probably Castlevania II: Simon's Quest in 1988.

It's not the most original or in depth, but it creates memorable and enjoyable characters that you can become easily attached too. The universe is quite impressive aswell. It's just that it isn't really suitable for that style of story. The twist at the end told us nothing. The reason why it works in MGS is because it's an unexpected shocking revelation at the end that require further exploration to understand the full story. With GeoW 2 it's just a hint at something bigger and nothing more, and that's not really how it works. It's why the ending was pretty weak, imo. And I know it was Marcus's dad, it just didn't really matter all that much, because you arn't told enough about him. If the game had gone in to more detail about what happened with him, it might have had more of an impact.

Actually, it looks like the first Metal Gear game on the MSX predates Castlevania II by a month, so Metal Gear may be the first game to use one. I have not found an older example in games specifically.

I can agree with that.
I would edit that post, but there is no longer an edit button anywhere on my screen. Thank you GlitchSpot.

For the record, they are often called ''stingers'' or ''post-credit scenes''.
