Just a guess but I think they will have a big price drop of $100 around Q2 next year. But that's at least another 4-5 months away and in the meantime they're being spanked by the competition. How much will sony drop the PS3 price ta ...
If at all, $50 bucks in the summer next year.
:shock:a $299 PS3?why dont they just give it away.lose money if they dont drop the price.still lose money when they drop the price.
imo, PS3 is really cheap. considering what if offers. I bought it when it was £400 and have no regrets. There is no consumer electronic device, that has 80GB HDD, Blu-ray, Built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, and most importantly, plays HD Games, and is cheaper than the PS3. Sony is losing a lot. PS3 and my car are only thing I have bought and said 'Money well spent'
I expect Sony will drop the price of the 80 gig to $300 and discontinue the 160 gig (I don't see this bundle doing well esp. being bundled with Uncharted). If by some miracle Gran Turismo 5 is released next year bundle it with that at least in Japan and Europe.Edit: I mean for Holiday 2009 I don't see a price drop coming before then.
I don't think they have any plans to drop the price right now. They are trying to get the message out about the value of PS3 which is hard right now when people are tight for money. The PS3 does cost more up front but you get a lot more included and in the end it ends up costing less.
yeah good luck w/ that 199 Xbox. My buddies just bought one and got shafted with all the extra they needed....they were asking me for hook up's; I said, no sir I don't deal that low LOL! They said it was cheap; I said you get what you pay for LMAO!!!
Well 100 would be to optimistic. Btw how much would an 80 gig ps3 come to with taxes. $450

yeah I agree. Houses. obviously have better value. I'm yet to buy a house though, considering the ridiculous prices here in UK, also, the houses are crap. I might try my luck in Spain.
If the price drops to $299, I'm getting it first day with MGS4 and KZ2.
I think the real question is WHEN, not how much. Sony is appearing to be very stubborn about a price drop of any sorts, so I would be looking for rumors and whispers of a price drop even happening, before I would start wondering about how much it would be...
Last night I had a chance to pick one up for $275. Unfortunately I didn't have any money.
While a $300 dollar PS3 would be nice, I really see Sony opting to drop by $50.
Sometime next year, they will drop it by $50 in probably March or April, and another $50 by next November. That is my guess.
Holiday 2009 will be $100 cheaper.

Cheap and value for money are different things.
well i think it will go down to 350 before 299 if for some reason it goes down to 299 they will probably take the wifi component out, but i think the ps3 is a good value at 400 i bought my 60gig when they were still 500 and i still say it was worth every penny.

I believe you are right. Price dictates what sells in this economy.
