After all of these fuss over LBP, and Banjo Kazooie N%26B's... Is Okami going to win plaftormer of the year? Or is something else going to come out of no where and take it? Platformer of the Year?
Prince of Persia has a really good chance if it lives up to the hype. Platformer of the Year?
It's Mirror's Edge. Fresh and stunning.
It's Mirror's Edge. Fresh and stunning.
7 game from GS
If Prince of Persia can be on par with it's predecessors, it gets my vote without second thought.
Seeing as Okomi is an action/adventure game, no.
nope, gonna be LBP
Its LittleBigPlanet
Altair of Persia could win, I want Altair of Persia to win but if it doesn't. LBP obviously
Braid

Who gives a ****? It's my game of the year. It's designed to be a fantastic platformer with fantastic speed running elements. Other than that, if you don't like platformers with speed running elements, you won't like Mirror's Edge. Obviously, VanOrd doesn't like platformers with speed running elements, especially considering the emphasis he put on gunplay in his review.
The game took the idea of first person platforming and made it into something innovative and fresh, something that hasn't been seen before. It may not be the most solid game out there but unlike games that are scoring 9.5/10 here, it actually offered something unique to gamers who are willing to appreciate it.
The two most likely contenders so far are Braid and LittleBigPlanet. Either stands a good chance of taking the prize.
Okami isn't really a platformer. Also it's a port. Okami won a few awads in 06(IGN's GOTY), won't win any this year...maybe exclusive Wii ones.

I do hope that Mirror's Edge at least get put in with the nominations, it deserves to be there despite what it scored. It did something no other platformer really ever has.
Warioland: Shake it!

Altaïr of Persia indeed. :P
i never thought i would have so much fun with lbp, it's seriously getting play time while being up against gears 2 and cod5.
I played okami on ps2, so i don't think that deserves it, as i don't think it improves hugely on the ps2 version even though it's sic game. I haven't played banjo yet, but i will probably get round to it after chrismas. My vote goes to lbp considering the circumstances.
