The 360 is looking to be the console for RPG lovers. It already have an awesome library of JRPG and western RPGs. Sony losing FFXIII was the last straw to even the field on the RPG genre. Sony lost ff 13? I thought it was still on the ps3?PS3 has quality titles. Valkyria chronicles definitely set itself apart. But one game cant win over the genre because the 360 hasMass Effect on pc so no lost thereTales of Vesperia good rpg but we got Valkyrai to make up for that Lost Odyssey you serious? Persona 3 tops this any daySo what about whats on the horizon? WKC has potential and its going to be the the biggest rpg exclusive for PS3 owners to look foward to in 2009. But what would have been a lockdown on the RPG genre for Sony, turned sour when FFXIII crossed over. To add to the loss, Star Ocean 4, an old JRPG favorite is a 360 exclusive.Uhhh WKC and Final fantasy versus 13 beats star ocean 4....For someone whos considering buying a console to get into the RPG genre, the 360 is simply the best platform.Even in 2009, a year that Sony is focusing on redeeming the PS3 as a true rpg platform, its facing tough competition from the 360. And just a reminder for those long awaiting Mass Effect 2 is on the horizon.EA now can go multiplat or on pc.Oh and ps3 got team ico on the horizon :P
FIxedPS3 cant top the 360 RPG lineup.
Games available now I say both the 360 and PS3 have a lackluster line up when it comes to JRPG's. As for WRPGS the 360 is ahead of course.
we cannot deny the fact that 360 has a larger selection of quality RPG's.... and thats good news to fans of that genre..
quality beats quantity no console this gen has been good for rpgs this gen
Most RPGs so far this gen on the big three have been pretty average.
Lost Odyssey is way better than its score on GS suggests. People always talk about MGS4 cinematic genius, well the 360 has an equivalent in the RPG field. Story is conventional in the JRPG sense but its very character focused and yes it had awesome characters. Its the first true quality JRPG title on consoles this generation.
Most RPGs so far this gen on the big three have been pretty average.
I agree Mass Effect and Fallout 3 are the only two RPG titles to come out this gen that I can say I really enjoy playing.
Lost Odyssey lost its charm after the first disc. Sure the the short stories were great, most of the characters were neat but the story became so cliched and way to over dramatic. It reminded me of a Tales title and thats not a good thing.
Mass Effect 2 will be on the PC later, but its very unlikely to be on the PS3. Its a very closely knit series in which the second installment depends on first game progression, the second story takes place some 2 month after the first, and I guess if the 1st game isnt on the PS3, theres little chance Bioware will suddenly release the second..and Team ICO? did they even name the game yet? I know they released 1 picture, but is that really something you should get excited about NOW?
Fistoflight, what's Team Ico up to these days?

After a few hours, it got monotonous and boring. It felt like 1998 all over again.
The ME series is EA now, so assuming any news whatsoever is futile. What we know about the game and where it's headed is ENTIRELY IN EA's hands. DMC4 was on X360, heck, MGS4 is wanted and Lems never played MGS3. SHENMUE 2 came to XBOX even though it was a direct sequel to SHENMUE. It was made and released for DREAMCAST but M$ paid for the game to be blocked in America for XBOX. They did release a DVD on what Shenmue 1 was about. It's EA.
Never assume.
About Team ICO, they are good for about two games this gen, if they follow suit. Finally WHITE KNIGHT CHRONICLES is coming by the creator's of DARK CLOUD1%262, and ROGUE GALAXY!As far as this gen goes, the 360 is the leader of RPG's, but that's not saying much.RPG fans expect much more than THIS ENTIRE GEN has given us.

Tales of V. is the Only JRPG I like so far this gen, ME was great (Except for boring stuff like crawling around in pipes and the dreaded Elevator which I hope is removed in ME2) for WRPG fans.

I feel like the game does alot of great things on its own, all of which gets overshadowed when reviewers talk about the game from the rosy lens of Seeking innovation. Alot of things this game does goes down in my book as huge pluses: interesting item/skill system, superb character development, very well designed world/monsters, and interesting mix of cinematics, dialogue and textual story reading. This generation is too focused on being different, that even the great features that seem conventional being mediocre. I still think that some things are timeless, an epic story, great characters, interesting world. Lost Odyssey delivered all those points and its a great RPG in my book.
What about Fable II, I thought that was an RPG?
What about Fable II, I thought that was an RPG?
great reminder, havent played the game so I forgot about it.
What about Fable II, I thought that was an RPG?
It's more an Action-Adventure game with RPG elements, exactly like the first Fable. It's more Zelda than RPG. I own it, and it's fun, but then again, I have the first Fable as well.
