Anyone upset with concepts of both Home ...

I am wondering if anyone feels as I do.  Both the x360 with NXE and ps3 with Home are introducing aspects of commercialized social networking to game.I am emphasizing the commercialization aspect of both consoles and what they are doing.. For ps3 it started with the ticker in the corner of the screeen, informing you of new releases and things to buy.  Now the nxe is flooded and i mean flooded with billboard advertisements of primetime gaming and other advertisements.  Home no doubt (especially because its free) will run massive advertisement campaigns. All of these things throw more advertisements and commercials at me and invade my gaming experience.  Yes its true that these advertisements sometimes inform me of new things coming out but im sure that neither of us want pepsi and t-mobile logos all over our consoles.  The gaming market has gotten so big over this generation i guess its inevitable that it is a new advertising hot spot.   NXE right now, and soon Home also create social aspects that allude to purchasing unnecessary content?  Im not going to want to buy a sofa for my home appt. nor will i want to buy a t shirt for my avatar. they are turning each game console into an exclusive clubhouse, and trying to make as much money as possible from it.I do not like it at all.   how do you guys feel about this?   Anyone upset with concepts of both Home ...

[/QUOTE] those advertisments you see are for things you can download etc. Ive not seen once a pepsi advert or whatever lol (sorry if im mistaken the new website layout is killing my comp n so scrolling up takes years so im doing it from memory....) I think they are pretty cool. I will wonder what Home's use will be being able to walk about and how it will benifit the online comunity. Its bascially comparable to a driving game one that is menu based NFSU1 or NFSU2... Both do the same thing but one alows you to roam about to get to the place you want or one has a simple menu to get you where you want but quicker.. i prefer the menu one lolAnyone upset with concepts of both Home ...
I mean i like NXE it's a nice change of pace, but its just not sticking on me
How can anyone be upset with home? Its completely optional. :| NXE is, however, forced upon you and I can see how someone wouldnt like it but even then I havent seen a crapload of advertising on it yet.And as for the ''ticker'' on the PS3, you can turn it off. :
|Upset they're spending all this time and energy into these gimicks which has no effect on gaming (for me.)

I love them. I like seeing what my friends are doing and who they are in a party with. I like being able to see community events and what is going on all the time, and I really enjoy the social, community feel.Plus, I like the avatars. Its fun ''seeing'' your friend in a list.
What are you talking about with ''NXE is flooded with advertisement''?    Now that I thought about it the real adverstisements I got use to seeing with the old XBL are gone.  And I'm talking about advertisement like T-Mobile, Doritos, Sprite, etc. and I believe the advertisement you're talking about are advertisement for games and Xbox 360 community events.  :|But I have a feeling Home will suffer the most with advertisements since you are going to be walking around a virtual world kinda like Second Life where advertisement are welcome.  Also what's wrong with seeing advertisement for upcoming games or games in stores now  in your gaming system?  And it's not like you can't just pop in your game and play.  Noone is forcing you to look around NXE or walk around Home.

Less crying! More gaming!
NXE is just amazing. I mean installing games to your HDD and having 8 way convo's is just amazing and just see Sony follow and copy MS just like 'trophies' (Although I think trophies look and sound better than achievements)

no. both are superficial facades, or 'graphical user interfaces'.anyone that gets upset with GUI concepts on consoles needs a bit o perspective. considering this is the first gen to really push main menu GUI. it's not a game, they're not meant to be entertaining, they are vehicles for navigating content - and both seem to do a fine job (mind you i haven't had my hands on home in a while).
