Black Mesa, a completely free Half-Life ...

So for you who don't know what the hell Black Mesa is...It's:- a remake of the first Half-Life- a mod- still in production- completely free (when it launches, that is) Considering incredible modding community on PC, console owners should really rethink what are they paying for (DLC stuff-wise). Gallery is located on Kotaku. Black Mesa, a completely free Half-Life ...
This will never come out.....Its been in development forever. By the time it comes out, Half Life 3 will be out, and the Source engine will be obsolete.Seriously, it looked incredible when Half Life 2 was the best looking game, but not anymore. It still looks nice to see a great classic game be remade on the source engine, but they just took way too damn long to make this. Black Mesa, a completely free Half-Life ...
Hope it comes out.I still need to play the 1st one.

(not that it can't run it, it's just an old PC and I don't like gaming on it)And since there's a possibility that I might be able to play a remake in the near future, I'm kinda waiting for that version.

Didnt click the link because my internet is acting up, but unless its being made by Valve, expect this to be another ''Chrono Trigger: Ressurection'' :(
oh really!? Thats awesome! I wish more companies were as understanding as Valve :DI can understand a company not wanting to create a game based on their work and then selling it, but for fan purpose? come on. I guess with CT:R I can sorta understand because SE still wanted to milk the franchise a little more with countless remakes, but why did Bethesda kill the Morroblivion mod? It could only help their sales considering you need both Morrowind AND Oblivion for it to work, and it could help get the graphics nuts who skipped on Morrowind because they heard about it too late and compared to todays graphics, it looks like crap :?
Yeah it does look amazing.the nostalgia of it is great.I really want to go back to Black Mesa, like its 1998.Damn Half Life was amazing.
Did Bethseda they kill it?Wow. That is horrible. Its like like how Bungie / MS killed the Halo mod for C%26C3, as it was too close to Halo Wars, and Fox killed the Aliens mod for Doom 2, and sued the mod makers......These are rare instances I guess.
Yeah it does look amazing.the nostalgia of it is great.I really want to go back to Black Mesa, like its 1998.Damn Half Life was amazing.
It's still pretty amazing.

Design, audio and gameplay - surprisingly held up.And still, the only downside is the Xen platforming bits, to this day :P
That does look pretty sweet. This makes me want to play through HL1 again. I've actually been planning on it because I haven't completed it (stopped at Xen).

Half-life 2 has never come close to touching HL1's greatness, especially for its time, imo.
The thing about HL1 is that back when it released it had this huge wow-factor. Alot of FPSs up till then like Quake and Doom were oh so simple. HL1 just had this huge leap in drawing the player into the game world by having npcs and the like reacting to you. The set peices were awesome and the cutsceneless interludes really made you a part of the world. To really appreciate all that and what made it so great, you have to have only played games before HL1 was released!

Sure Valve wanted to shake up the gameplay.... pity the running and long jumping was so trial and error..
