well.... 18.5 isn't really all that much for sony
These days every cent hurts, they say... :P
well.... 18.5 isn't really all that much for sony
This is true, but this it will mostly come out of the gaming division it could hurt that division pretty bad. They were struggling last quarter in that division as far as I remember. Guess we will see when the next fiscal quarter is done and see how it effected them if at all.
well.... 18.5 isn't really all that much for sony
that's still a pretty pennie
thats not alot the time they put spyware in their devices they paid alot more
Not that much.
I believe stuff like this happens all the time.
Im sure they will have a spare 18 mil in change down the back of the couch somewhere.
The fact that they filed this suit in Texas is proof that it's a textbook case of patent squatting. The judges there don't know crap about technology, which is why you see so many people with vague patents filing lawsuits there.I'm all for protecting intellectual property. However, I think that there also needs to be protection against vague patents that prevent people from creating products without getting chased by predatory lawyers. Seriously, I can write a file to a memory stick with headers USING MY FREAKING PC, so are these baboons going to try and sue me, too? Maybe I should put a patent on peeing on trees, so that no-one can pee on a tree unless they buy the patent for my tree-side toilet kit.
18.5 mill is nothing.Sony just needs to take out its other wallet like movies,Laptops earning or the tons of other things they sell
Pocket change. However I must question the motives behind this lawsuit. Why did they wait 2 years after the PSP launched to file a suit? And did this company ever develop their patented device? This seems like patent squatting to me even if its from a respected and well established company. In fact, the more established the company is the less surprising it becomes because the big boys play dirtier than anyone. :P
