Hyped, wasn't it bashed months before it came out?
Seems a little high. It should have been dropped to a 3.0 for the concept alone, before any other problems were even discussed.
After watching the X-Play review this one seems a little generous.
Yeah, the game is getting rated simply on its combat system. Simply said, they just did a quicky, a basic system with emphasis on the special moves. Nothing more nothing less



People seem to forget how barebones it is, no extra costumes, arenas characters etc. and then the last-gen graphics.
I will personally be at gamestop ready to bust the door down for Street Fighter. Im happy I held out for a Review for Mortal Kombat.

Agreed!! I own this game and bought it 3 days ago and I cant stop playing it, its very addictive.. the online is very smooth, a lot of people play online and even use Mics which is good for a fighting game.. (I have the 360 version) The people that bash this game are people that havent played it and they are just going by other people's opinions that havent played it either, if you actually play this game you will see its a very very fun and addictive game with a very satisfying fighting engine.. I agree more with Jeff Gerstmann's review at Giantbomb (5/5) more than i do with gamespot.. I personally gave this game a 9.5.. yes its that good!
I played through the story mode and played if for a while with my friend. It's Ok.

If you don't mind me asking, how are mics good for a fighting game that has no partner combat?

I personally like mics no matter what type of online game im playing, thats just how i am.. infact some of my best conversations with people over xbox live have been over one on one fighting game encounters like fight night and MK
I believe when it was first announced people thought it was pretty stupid, but yeah, I might give it a rent because I'm interested in how these DC Universe characters fight.  I hope there'll be a demo or something available. 
I got it and me and my wife have been enjoying it so far but yeah it is missing alot of features typically found in other fighters. The system itself is very enjoyable. I just miss the extra outfits and all the other goodies. I am sure they will milk people for outfits and the like thats what this gens all about milkage with the DLC.

Well somewhere down the road I gotta get this game. Before the DC license runs out and it becomes hard to find like MVC2. It looked silly enough to be fun and it seems like it is.

Meanwhle people stopped caring about MK's blood and fatalities along time ago. Now they are in an uproar about the teen rating?
