XBox Live... It's not the money part tha ...

50$ a year (or whatever it is) is nothing. A person working at McDonalds can easily make twice that in one day... maybe, but still, it's not much. It's just that fact that it is annoying to have to deal with it. I bought a bunch of the cards with subscriptions to XBox Live Gold and I can't remember where they are now, don't remember when time is coming around again, and the fact that I'm already paying for my internet (it's the principle of the matter). Admit it, PSN is really good (Resistance 2 has lag free 60 players or lag free 8 human players with 150 on screen enemies with particles effects and physics all happening on screen), and Sony is coming out with Home (doesn't really interest me, but they have put a lot of work and time into it) for free. Ok, so MS came out with the NXE, but it's nothing really new or revolutionary. Avatars, copied Miis, Home, and every RPG and MMO ever. Has hard drive installs, PS3 and PC have had this for a while (yes, I did just say PC) and theres really no noticable difference (read any site preview or review for proof). Netflix, well Netflix pretty much did all the work there, and it's been on PCs and stream ing to 360 for a while now. And finally, the new look, well heck, gamespot just changed the look of this site and that was free. Everyone shanges things up or else it gets old. And I know people will say ''Oh a wall of text'' and ''Dude, just blog it'' (this will show who read my post) well I don't blog and this is my first real rant on this site for 4 years. So for the people who actually looked at my wall of text... do you agree that some, most, all, or none of this is true?XBox Live... It's not the money part tha ...

So for the people who actually looked at my wall of text... do you agree that some, most, all, or none of this is true?[/QUOTE]You're fault, not MS. Avatars have been around forever, way back to imaginative avatars in text based RPG. The new trend of digital avatars is nothing new.  this statement is a foundless as the PSN copied Xbox Live argument. Your job to find proof for your point. You were right, being that most of this is your personal opinion on something that truthfully isn't that big of a deal, I say blog it. That being said, I don't know what you mean when you say you have to ''deal with it''. Perhaps the greatest and most permanent advantage LIVE has over PSN is that it's fully integrated into every game and facet of the Xbox console/brand. I pay for Xbox LIVE because it makes me feel secure and convience. Might not be worth $50, but... what you gonna do?
you can set it to automatically renew your live subscription each year so that you don't have to buy cards. i've found xbl to be much easier to operate than psn. also, the lack of a microphone in ps3s makes playing online a very lonely experience for me. although this is a slightly double edged sword in that giving out mics out as standard - like with xboxs - means all the people who love to wreck it for everyone else are free to shout down their headsets at you but they can be easily muted. as you mentioned, the price of xbox live should only be an issue for some as it's the price of 1 game each year. but because it has to be paid for you should expect it to be better than it's rivals. and i think it is better than it's rivals so i don't mind paying the fee for it.and before pc gamers start having a go i'd like to mention that by rivals i meant ps3, i'm sure online pc gaming is better than both with many more options but i don't have the knowledge or desire to learn how to make it work.
Well, i am not sure what you are ranting about? NXE nothing revolutionary... why did you expect it to be revolutionary? it`s the same as it was before, just a little better, that`s why it`s called an update. 4 player chat is a fantastic feature however, avatars i agree, pointless but it`s just one more choice.Resistance lag free... sure, however, shooter wise it`s safe to say that the 360 destroys the PS3 lineup... offline and online.
Live is superior, in terms of updating and download speed. I'd say $50 a year is reasonable, given on how reliable it is. The PS3 updates take forever, but it's free, can't really complain. But I know what you mean. The NXE means nothing to me. I don't use Netflix, the avatar thing is stupid, and while I got to know and love the dashboard, they make it like the PS3, and still make it more cluttered than it should be. Basically, Live is paying for faster internet, and PSN is a lesson in patience.

PSN has updates in it's store every thursday with things that's actually nice and add stuff to games, I never really experienced that with xbl, but I suppose the xbl store didn't really interested me, so it's all a matter of preferences I guess. Also - isn't 50$/year not only for gaming, with the silver account you can actually get the updates and go onto the store?

But on the other hand I'll agree with you about the point that it's easier to find people to socialise with when everyone have a mic.
Where I live Xbox360 is not officially selling. RROD= PAY for fixing. Live Gold 12-month Membership card= 110 US dollars. Only advantage is you can buy modded 360 and still have 1 year warranty from the store where you bought it. On the other hand you will quickly get banned from live with modded console, so NO online play  PS3 was best solution. Free online, warranty from Sony, costumer support, bluray...

Everyone on this globe should have the warranty iirc. did you call customer support and asked for a manager or something? I believe there is a worldwide international phone number
Alright, there were some good responses, and a lot less ager than I had expected. As for the coment on download speeds, They are the same for me, even on my Wii. PC has the fastest downloads, but then again that's PC. As for the 3rd or 4th post (the one that broke down some of my points into colors), yes it was my fault for buying all of the cards at once, so no complaint with you there. Your second part about me talking about avatars, I know avatars have been around for almost as long as gaming... that was my point. MS has made such a big deal about adding these when they are in many/most cases a standard feature, also many other GS users are commonly pointing them out and I can't help but laugh when they do. The 3rd point in your post about it being my job to find proof, I have found proof... in almost every site that has previewed/reviewed this update and by my own experience, that's is your job because this pretty much common knowledge now and I didn't feel like posting that many links... sorry. Well, keep the comments coming, and please continue the maturity that has come so far... it is a nice change of pace from what most of SW is full of.

I sold 360 after I got banned from live because it was modded. So look at it this way:Multiplayer is main thing for me, SP is just nice add-on. With PS3 you get free online with original games. With 360 you get 110 US dollars online for one year with original games. If I could only play copied games on modded and not get banned then I'll consider buying 360. I only need to invite friends and play with them that is all. So both services are the same. All this avatars, movies streaming is not interesting and unnecessary to me.It takes about 10 hours to download a HD movie with the connection speed of 2Mbit/s download 256 bit/s upload. So if I want to watch a movie tonight I'll have to think about it yesterday. I'll rather rent physical copy. When the download becomes less then 30 minutes which is how much it take me to get to video store and beck home then I'll switch to downloading. All in all XBL and PSN are same for my needs But one is free

For me, I don't pirate games, but it doesn't bother me if someone pirates a game but still buys it new when it comes out so that the developers still get credit for all their hard work. I have a few friends that used to just pirate and not buy the real version, then I talked to them and they felt really guilty. They are mostly casual gamers and didn't know that most games are in development for longer times (can be 2-3 years longer) than movies. Now they also buy a retail copy. Try doing this to anyone you know that pirates, or turn them in and teach them a lesson... well maybe not that. Now back to the topic. Another (small) thing that PSN has that (to my knowledge because I have yet to find this feature) Live doesn't is when you are looking at the description of a game and deciding whether or not you want it, the is an option to watch a preview movie of the game. This is a nice feature for people that don't hang out on site like this one and read up on every preview/review for all the games they might want. One last note, IMO PSN is orgainized better, along with the XMB. I just like the way Sony has grouped things into categories.
no 1 can say ps3's dashboard is cluttered because its not..
