http://ds.ign.com/articles/932/932438p2.html8.5 Presentation
Virtually unchanged from its original Super NES design, but still very easy to navigate, tweak for touch or button controls, and make your own. There are a lot of options for this Super NES design. 8.5 Graphics
Beautiful 2D work may feel dated to some more recent gamers, but it still holds up extremely well on DS, and the added animated sequences from FF Chronicles is a nice touch. Unchanged, but impressive. 9.5 Sound
Simply some of the best music you'll find. More could have been added to the package, but it's still an incredible offering. 9.0 Gameplay
The hybrid turn-based/semi-random design is pretty ****cal in flow and feel, but it also holds up very well if you dig this type of game. There's an incredible sense of a ''do anything'' world. 8.5 Lasting Appeal
It's one of the best RPGs of all time, but most players have played it already. Multiplayer is interesting, but not needed, and the added quests flesh out the experience a bit more. A port, but impre 8.8
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average) Chrono Trigger DS 8.8 @ IGN
Wow. nice.Chrono Trigger DS 8.8 @ IGN
Milkage at its finest, SE you make me sick. FF III and IV were fantastic efforts, why didnt they follow suit?

Indeed. They could have gone with a real remake, like that fan made version.

Japanese gamers love milkage for some reason, they released Chrono Trigger on its own for the PSone, good thing Sony stepped in for EU and NA and forced them to give a better deal
8.5 in graphics for an SNES game? Nostalgia must have kicked IGN to be honest. Unless IGN has forgotten, the DS can output N64 quality graphics.

Luminous Arc 2 only got 7.5 on that category for example. And the sprites in Lumious Arc are way more polished than in CT.
I think they could have done so much more with this port. They made such a good FFIV port.
Bit too generous IMO, it's really just a raw port. Nothing new here.
Although its Chrono Trigger on the go...there is no way in hell I would pay 40 bucks for a barely changed port.
I wish SE would have done more with this game, but I'm not too bothered. The game was never released in Europe, so the only chance I've had to play it was with an emulator, and I hate emulators!I'll definitely be picking this up.
So not better than Halo then.
If this game had come out on the GBA, people would have shat bricks and the game would be praised immediately. It coming out so many years later on a handheld that can do 3D is laughable and really just lazy on Square's part.
If SE can port it and know they will make money with no effort then they will. SE has no shame.
Sir Froggy would be proud. But alas this game deserves a 9.5 because it's Chrono Trigger and it's that good. It X Strikes 99.99999% of all games in the face.

Hold thy tongue, speaketh not of the Halo's in the same breath as Chrono Trigger.

Froguth doesn't speak like that in the DS version. They changed it voice text.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! why? why?... at least they make up for it with the inclusion of the PS1 cutscenes, well worth it.
