Ok. This morning I sat down with some coffee and tried to download the new Xbox experience, I figured I'd let it run while I went about my morning routine and whatnot. Major problem, 46 seconds (EXACTLY) later I had downloaded and installed the update. As I'm typing this its staring me in the face. I have a 60gb PS3 with a 7200 RPM 160gb HDD in it. Every single update has been a 20 minute affair. Even updates that do next to nothing have sidelined me for at least 20 minutes (2.50 took an hour if I recall). My internet connection is pretty good, 20,000 down and 5,000 up. Sony NEEDS to get on that ASAP, agreed? From old Xbox to new Xbox experience in ...
Sony doesn't need to make updates quicker, maybe it's just how PS3 is deisgned. But you're right PS3 and PSP, have slow updates. From old Xbox to new Xbox experience in ...
Agree. I too was going to get a few things done while it was updating, but it tooke me like 2 mins. And I like it already.
Sony NEEDS to get on that ASAP, agreed?
yep, I agreethe installations on the Ps3 are slow as hell
That's because the PS3 is a poorly designed system. It takes an army of people to do one thing on it. While just a handful of people are needed for the 360.It is nice to have fast installs. Few seconds sure beats several mins. While in the dashboard Sony needs to have all cells activated. Not just 1.
Yeah the Update took me 3 minutes, tops.I didn't count, lol.M$ is really impressive the way they handled the speed of this update. THIS IS like the 19th NXE thread though, TC.I don't like way NXE sacrificed SPEED and Efficiency for ****and Looks though. I also am not a fan of the BubbleClicking noise when you move around.

Makes it very frustrating when you're trying to gauge whether to do it on the day or not (I usually wait a day or 2 just t o make sure)
its true Sony's updates take ages compared to updates on 360.... lets hope Sony will address this problem in the near future...
While no one likes an update to take a long time (PS3 fans esp remember this next time you criticise the PC for having to get updates for drivers etc, which only takes a minute or 2 to do) as long as they a) work and b) don't brick your console I can bear to live with it. Honestly the fuss people make over loading times, installs and changing disks on this board borders on the ridiculous at times.
Honestly the fuss people make over loading times, installs and changing disks on this board borders on the ridiculous at times.
well I can only speak for myself here.. but as a console gamer at heart, I don't like the idea of consoles turning into PC's one bit.Yes I realize it, I have 2 consoles that have this feature currently lol but I don't really like it..
It isn't that I mind the long updates, I'm an adult, I'm patient. I was just really impressed with Microsoft's customer service on this one. I felt like the world needs to know about something that people might not care to mention but that reeks of customer support.I just made an avatar and changed my gamer picture (the options are great) and am getting used to the new system while installing Fallout 3 so I don't have to use the disc (or do you?)I will install the games my girlfriend likes to play as well, she always likes Viva Pinata but this will be a nice surprise for her not having to put in the disc :)
