I'm glad less people use a headset on PS ...

When I had my 360, I played online regularly, but I spent most my time muting people. People get online and they just talk poo and generally act in a really annoying way. I play on the PSN now and, though headsets are on the increase, I dont have to listen to endless whining, racism, singing, and swearing.Seriously though, what do you guys thing about online chat whilst playing games. does it add anything to the experience in games that dont require much teamwork? I'm glad less people use a headset on PS ...
Well 360 has the party feature now so you can't really complain about this anymore (It always had private chats anyway though). Party with people you want to talk to, or take the headset off. Problem solved.I'm glad less people use a headset on PS ...

The amount of people using headsets on PSN is increasing so you'll soon hear those people...
It's true, MS packing a headset into all of the Pro and Elite systems is both a blessing and a curse. I grown to hate Xbox Live's community in general with a burning passion because there's never a shortage of folks slinging racial slurs, cursing like a sailor who zipped his pants up too fast, and pretending they're on American Idol. This is why I play with friends. Now, with the NXE's party system, I never have to hear anyone I don't want to when playing online.

I hate the online chats the 17 year olds act like 10 year olds and the 10 year olds act like 4 year olds.
I'm glad I have an option to mute people on XBL.I guess we are all happy then.
The amount of people who don't have a mic are GREATLY exaggerated by MS fanboys. Yes there are plenty of people without a mic but honestly thats not necessarily a bad thing. There are very few games I have played where the mic actually is used strategically and even in these type of games a person with a mic won't necessarily use it for strategy but gossip, crap talking or other nonsense. Basically the people who WANT a mic can get a mic by a variety of ways and the people who are luke warm or don't care wont have one reducing alot of people who would just abuse a mic because they have it and want attention. Both PSN and XBL have their annoying kids but honestly PSN is FAR from a lonely place when gaming like some MS fanboys wanna believe.

I have never been one to sling racial slurs across the mic. I'll often toss out the obligatory barrage of swear words, and maybe the occasional homophobic remark (i'm not homophobic, but I pick up the lingo from people I play with -_-)

However, I still wish more people would get mics. Like on KZ2, Mics are actually pretty common, and thankfuly, i rarely ever hear any offensive language, and when I do, it's usually within the range of things I would say. I haven't played on XBL much, but when I have, I've experienced some quite offensive language, as well as singing over the mic, and people talking about the dumbest stuff..

But whatever. theres actually an interesting article about this at Kotaku. Worth a read.

A headset included in the box would've made it easier for me to speak to other games online but, like TC said, I really like the fact that on PSN the people with headsets are usually the people that went the extra step (either by figuring out how to use their blutooth or buying one) in order to talk online. Don't get me wrong, there are jerks out there on PSN and I do mute people every now and then. But when I play Gears online (under my roommate's live ID) the first thing I do is mute the usual jerks singing, cursing, or just playing music as loud as possible. Again, that happens on PSN but with much less frequency. And with that 199.99 price tag I think you can expect the number of immature people making random noises or cursing up a storm to go up.

I'm glad not everone uses a mic in COD4, ugh so many annoying players on that game.

Im glad of it aswell, there really is next to no poo talkers on PSN compared to XBL. Im sure there would be more however if Sony bundled a headset with every PS3.

I have had a variety of online games, SC4, COD4, Resistance, Warhawk, LBP, Rainbow Six, SOCOM, etc.. and I have had no problems finding people with mics in any of those games. Heck in games like Rainbow, SC4 and SOCOM people will kick you if you don't have a mic.

They're anonymous and they want to piss people off. I swear, the eight way party chat feature is going to become my favorite new feature of the NXE just because I can cut those singing bastards off for good. :P
